Oh God the Wolverines

Scout by Land: This area of the forest is thick with trees, and has a single river flowing through it. However, something immediately concerns you: this area is blighted, unnaturally and heavily. The The river water is clearly tainted, and has a shocking amount of bloated, diseased animal corpses floating in it. No Survival Check is necessary to know that drinking this water would not be a good idea. (DC 15 Perception): The source of the blight appears to be northeast of here. (DC 20 Survival): There is evidence that this area is the hunting grounds of a small pack of Dire Wolverines. Given the fact that you find almost as many animal corpses with claw and bite marks as you do with blight marks, something is most likely driving them to hyper-aggression. No Intelligence check necessary to know that this may have something to do with the blight.

(DC 20 Perception): The source of the blight appears to be northeast of here. (DC 25 Perception): A small pack of Dire Wolverines, led by an Alpha Male and an Alpha Female, prowl the area. Numbering eight in total, they are hyper-aggressive, attacking anything that moves on sight.

The encounter in this hex is a pack of eight Blighted Advanced Dire Wolverines (three males and one Alpha Male, three females and one Alpha Female) who begin the battle in Rage and never drop out of Rage (their stat blocks are built for this). The non-alpha Wolverines attack without regard for each other, often getting in each others way (Remember, the squeezing penalty to Attack and AC is -4); however, none of the non-alpha Wolverines will interfere with the Alphas. The Alpha Male and Alpha Female may attempt to flank with each other, but none of the other wolverines will attempt any such thing. Any wolverine who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, and as such the wolverines will ignore non-attacking targets in favor of targets that are attacking them.


This terrible wolverine is as large as a bear, its jaws and claws oversized and brutal, its eyes dark and filled with rage.
