Totally Not GG
Scout by Land (DC) 10: The overwhelming buzzing in the air suggests some massive conglomeration of insects through the thick trees. Tread lightly.
Scout by Air (DC 15): There’s a loud thrumming noise and the hint of something large and yellow down beneath the tree line, but it’s hard to spot exactly what it is without going further down.
Knowledge (Nature) (DC 20): Those are the noises made by giant bees…and their smaller counterparts. They are known to share a symbiotic, if infrequent, relationship. _____________________________________________________________________________________________
The extremely thick foliage throughout this area counts as difficult terrain if not razed or otherwise cut through. The river is downhill from the trees, which are crowned by beehives of truly spectacular size.
A successful stealth check (GM’s discretion based on player actions, in part because the behavior of the bees is so arbitrary) might allow the PCs to slip past, or they bring down the wrath of the hive.

The corpse of a dead priestess of Calistria is half-buried in the Queen’s hive. Her armor has undergone a strange permutation due to her goddess’ cruel sense of humor, becoming an Abrogalian Corset: http://www.pathfindercommunity.net/magic-items/magic-armor/hellwasp-corset
